Fastum Gel contains ketoprofen 25 mg/g or 2.5% for topical use. Ketoprofen is a highly potent and safe non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) is used to treat pain and inflammation of the joints, tendons, ligaments and muscles. These include rheumatic and/or traumatic pain in the following:

• joints, tendons, ligaments and muscles
• arthritis, periarthritis, arthrosynovitis, tendinitis
• tenosynovitis, bursitis
• contusions, sprains
• lumbago (lower back pain),
• torticollis (stiff neck)
• phlebitis, periphlebitis (inflammation associated with veins)
• Iymphangitis, superficial Iymphadenitis (inflammation associated with the lymphatic system)

Fastum is to be applied topically over the affected area once or twice daily. Depending on the size of the affected area, you may apply 5-10 cm of gel or more, gently rubbing the gel into the skin to aid absorption.

The gel is generally well tolerated but the treated skin area should not be exposed to direct sunlight during treatment and for 2 weeks afterwards as topical photosensitization has been reported.

• Ketoprofen is contraindicated in patients who have a history of hypersensitivity reactions such as asthmatic attacks or other allergic-type reactions to ketoprofen, ASA or other NSAIDs.
• History of any photosensitivity reaction
• Known hypersensitivity reactions, such as symptoms of asthma, allergic rhinitis to ketoprofen, fenofibrate, tiaprofenic acid, acetylsalicylic acid, or to other NSAID
• History of skin allergy to ketoprofen, tiaprofenic acid, fenofibrate or UV blocker or parfumes
• Sun exposure, even in case of hazy sun, including UV light from solarium, during the treatment and 2 weeks after its discontinuation
• Ketoprofen is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to one of the excipients of the drug.
• The gel should not be used on pathological skin changes such as eczema or acne; or in infectious skin or open wounds.
• Third trimester of pregnancy. All prostaglandin synthetase inhibitors including Ketoprofen may induce cardiopulmonary and renal toxicity in the foetus. At the end of the pregnancy, prolonged bleeding time in both the mother and child may occur. Therefore, Ketoprofen is contraindicated during the last trimester of pregnancy.
